FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Desktop Factory demo is out now ahead of Steam Next Fest Build a compact factory at the side of your screen while you work or play October 14, 2026 — GIGAJAM announces that the Desktop Factory demo is now available on Steam, ahead of the game’s participation in Steam Next Fest from October 19–26. Desktop Factory is a relaxed factory builder designed for the side of your screen or a second monitor. Players build inside a vertical shaft, arranging production in a compact space as they power a drill and work toward the planet’s core. The desktop format lets a growing factory share the screen with whatever else players are doing. Space is part of the challenge. Rather than spreading production across a wide landscape, players find ways to fit their factory into the shaft. The game pairs low-pressure play with layout decisions that give automation fans something to optimize. The full game’s announced design includes planets with different resources and restrictions, new biomes as the drill descends, and progression between runs. Completing planetary extractions unlocks alternate building shapes and upgrades for future factories. Players can download the demo now and wishlist Desktop Factory on Steam ahead of its full release. The full game is currently listed as coming soon. The demo offers a preview of the game; the full-game features described above should not be read as a complete list of demo content.
